Chemical powder processing equipment

Abrasive, corrosive and occasionally hazardous: chemical powders punish machines that were specified for gentler duty.

Chemical manufacturing covers a wide spread of behaviours — free-flowing salts, cohesive pigments, heat-sensitive additives, corrosive intermediates. What the equipment has in common is that it has to survive them, and that the batch has to be containable rather than merely ventilated.

We build chemical-duty mixers in SS304, SS316L or carbon steel, with ATEX configurations for combustible dust, liquid injection for coating and granulation, wear-resistant liners and sealed bearing arrangements. Batch sizes run from 100 L pilot units to 4,000 L production vessels.

ATEX, wear protection and sealing

Explosion protection

Explosion-proof motors, conductive grounding, nitrogen inerting and pressure-relief panels for combustible dust environments, documented against the dust classification you provide.

Wear protection

Hardfaced agitators, ceramic-lined troughs and replaceable wear strips for pigments, minerals and other abrasive materials.

Sealed construction

Purgeable shaft seals and labyrinth-plus-lip arrangements, with inert gas blanketing where the material must not meet air.

Heating and cooling

Steam, thermal-oil or water jackets for reaction, drying or cooling steps, integrated into the trough rather than bolted on afterwards.

Chemical industry applications

01

Pigments, dyes and colorants

High-intensity plough mixing with spray nozzles for liquid pigment dispersion; ribbon mixing for dry pigment blends.

02

Fertilizers and agrochemicals

NPK blending, micronutrient coating and controlled-release granulation in plough and double paddle mixers with liquid addition.

03

Detergents and cleaning products

Powder detergent blending, enzyme incorporation and fragrance spraying, with a spray bar sized for even distribution.

04

Flame retardants

ATH, magnesium hydroxide and brominated compounds in heavy-duty ribbon and plough mixers with wear-resistant construction.

05

Masterbatch and compounds

Polymer and additive pre-mixing, carbon-black dispersion, with heated jackets for masterbatch preparation.

06

Water treatment chemicals

PAC, activated carbon, lime and coagulants in large-capacity ribbon mixers, with dust collection at every transfer point.

Frequently asked questions

Which mixer handles corrosive material?

SS316L covers most corrosive powders; beyond that we quote PTFE-lined or special-alloy contact parts with mechanical seals. Send the chemistry and we will say what we would and would not put in the product zone.

Can you build explosion-proof machines?

Yes. ATEX-rated motors and controls, conductive grounding and nitrogen inerting are specified against the dust classification (St1/St2/St3) you provide.

What about abrasive pigments?

Wear-resistant contact parts, replaceable liner plates and heavy-duty bearings. On pigment duty we usually quote the liner as a consumable with a known replacement interval.

Need chemical processing equipment?

Tell us the material, batch size and any compliance or containment requirement. We will come back with the configuration we would build and the questions we would ask before quoting.
